Welcome mages who are not afraid to dabble into spells; this guide on how to burn stuff with your Fire Mage in World of Warcraft's Shadowlands Season of Discovery (SoD) Phase 2. Parsing high means performing great at raids where comparison charts are made between different players. It is an honor for serious raiders and as a fire mage, you can do much better.
↖ Talents & Runes
If making things sizzle:
- Making fireballs faster (5/5 Improved Fireball): More fire because speedier fireballs!
- Ignite (5/5): Keep 'em burning and watch those numbers soar.
- Burning Soul (2/2): Less pushback; more chill.
- Pyroblast (1/1): When you just have to make an entrance!
- Incinerate (2/2): Bring the damage!
- Improved Scorch (3/3): Burn them faster, burn them worse.
- Master of Elements (3/3): Mana from crits? It's fire recycling!
- Critical Mass (3/3): Maximize your critical strikes with increased Crit Rating.
- Flame Throwing (1/2) or Blast Wave (1/1): Reach out and torch someone or have a blast with AoE.
For your flaming recipe:
-
Chest: Burnout
-
Legs: Living Flame
-
Hands: Living Bomb
- Belt: Hot Streak
- Boot: Spell Power
You cannot change any of these options because they are in stone. Keep this one always in mind!
↖ Pre BiS Gear
Get some scorchers while you're waiting for the Best-in-Slot stuff:
- Head – Chapeau de Whitemane
- Neck – Talisman de Ghostshard
- Shoulders – Pauldrons of Doan
- Cloak – Bloodsail Admiral's Cloak
- Chest – Robes of the Magi
- Wrists – Warsong Gulch Bracers
- Weapon – Hypnotic Blade + Celestial Orb
- Hands – Dreamweave Gloves
- Belt – Deathmage Sash
- Legs – Red Mageweave Pants
- Boots – Spider Silk Slippers
- Rings – Blood Ring + Advisor's Ring.
- Trinkets – Rune of Perfection + Voidstone.
- Wand – Ragefire Wand.
↖ BiS Gear
When you are about to turn the heat up:
- Head: Specialization Helm–Tailoring;
- Neck: Pendulum of Doom;
- Shoulders: Synthetic Mantle;
- Cloak: Bloodsail Admiral's Cloak (still hot!);
- Gloves: Dreamweave Gloves (my favorite)
- Belt: Volatile Power Belt
- Legs & Boots: A part of the Irradiated Gear Set
- Rings: Bloodmoon Ring + Epic Raid Ring
- Trinkets: Raid Trinket + Voidstone (the classic)
- Wand: Wand of Fiery Purging
↖ Stat Priority
Keep in mind that you must remain balanced here:
- Get a mixture of Spell Power and Intellect, as strong spells require vast mana pools.
- Never forget Stamina especially if you are wearing irradiated gear, which trims off some stamina.
- Use a small amount of Spirit for mana regeneration but avoid letting it overshadow your main stats.
↖ Enchants
Here are enchantments that will turn up the heat:
- Cloak: +3 All Resistances – Although it is not significant, this enchant can save or kill you.
- Robes: +2 All Stats – Another stat boost to make sure you don't have any weakness.
- Bracers: +5 Intellect – Tougher brains create stronger flames.
- Boots +5 Stamina - So your feet never stop moving around danger zones. T
- Weapons: Should be enchanted with dismantle instead of intellect because even though an extra intellect would be tempting but more sizzle will be added to the damage output by Dismantle.
↖ Consumes & Buffs
Put these miraculous little helpers in your bag:
- Sage's Dark Fortune (Mo World Buff): 10% damage – This is a must-have for serious raiders.
- Spark of Inspiration (Well Buff from Noma): 4% critical spell chance and 42 spell damage/healing – You always knew there was untapped potential in there somewhere.
- Lesser Wizard Oil: Spell Damage 16 - what better reason to slide this onto your weapon?
- Prophetic Aura Stone (+1 Mana per 5 sec): Keep your mana pool bubbling over.
- Elixir of Firepower: Up to +10 fire spell damage for 30 minutes – Add fuel to your fire.
- Lesser Arcane Elixir: +14 spell damage for 30 minutes - Widen your magical assault.
- Scrolls of Arcane Accuracy and Recovery: +1% hit chance and +5 Mana per 5 seconds – Tiny things can help in the heat of a fight.
- Nature Protection Potions: Pre-pot against nature's wrath.
- Scroll of Spirit (+11 spirit, 30 min) – When everything turns upside down, take it easy.
- Greater Mana Potions & Free Action Potions: Just in case the worst happens.
↖ Best Professions
Choose wisely, as your profession can be as potent as any spell:
1 | Tailoring | Craft an epic headpiece that reduces mana cost and increases damage. This is a must-have item for any serious raiding fire mage |
Enchanting | Craft sigils that enhance spell damage but note that they are like fragile creatures with low self-esteem like conjured water elementals
Alchemy | Mix up potions that restore health and mana while also giving a brief boost to spell damage
Engineering | Build gadgets which grant random buffs or have some nice pvp applications |
↖ Rotation in Gnomer
Consider your rotation as destruction's dance steps. Here's how it goes:
- Pre-cast Pyroblast: If you can start with a bang, do so.
- Living Bomb: Keep this explosive ticking on at all times.
- Scorch: Stack five times for maximum effect.
- Hot Streak Procs: Use these for Pyroblast when they pop up.
- Combustion active? Fireball away!
Don't forget about using Living Bomb and Hot Streak procs at the right times, or keeping potions handy for managing mana as required.
↖ Addons
These are the all-important addons that will enhance your gameplay:
- Deadly Boss Mods: Stay on top of raid mechanics.
- CharacterStatsClassic: Keep an eye on your vital stats.
- Nova World Buffs & Nova Instance Tracker: Track buffs and layers.
- Recount or Details!: Monitor your damage output.
- Stat Weights Classic Vanilla & WeakAuras: Optimize your performance with detailed spell data.
And don't forget Peggle for some fun during downtime!
Bonus Tips: Remember to manage your mana efficiently, especially during prolonged encounters. If you think a fight will take a while, use consumables early on.
