These are secret Mage runes that add spice and taste to your magical approach and repertoire and have been culled from arcane libraries. Mages in WoW have always been powerhouses - masters of AoE farming, gold hoarding, and crowd control. They've been freezing people at the frosty gates since day one; they've been giving them fiery farewells for even longer than that. However, be ready for the unimaginable Mages are about to start healing.

 

Yes, you heard right—Mages are becoming healers this season! Wondering what this entails? Engulf yourself with these runes.

 

↖ Glove Runes

Phase 1:

•  Ice Lance: This spell is just too good to be true in vanilla WoW. It's versatile, costs fairly low mana, does not cost much in terms of getting other frost talents.
•  Living Bomb: A classic spell that turns your foes into ticking time bombs. Great for AoE leveling or dungeon runs where enemies can be kited forever.
•  Arcane Blast: An oldie but goodie now packs more punch – or more healing actually because at max stacks it becomes a costly mana beast that adds both damage and healing abilities. Add Arcane Power to see an amazing (and expensive) light show.
•  Rewind Time: You know how sometimes you wish you could undo damage like a bad haircut? With Rewind Time, you can take back five seconds worth of pain from your target, and heal it away. It's just what you need when the boss hits a big "oh no" moment.

 

↖ Belt Runes

Phase 2:

•  Spellfrost Bolt: Go dark with magic by using Balefire Bolt. Each spell increases the next bolt's damage but be aware that too much power can diminish your spirit completely and eventually lead to tragedy.
•  Frostfire Bolt: This is a well-known rune for many – it grants your Mage the capability to throw bolts that combine frost's icy touch and fire's scorching heat. In addition to causing damage, it also slows down the movement of the enemy and continues to burn them over time.
•  Hot Streak: Hot Streak is a game changer for any lover of flames. Get successive critical strikes with your fire spells into an instant Pyroblast that costs no mana at all. Watch as they explode in flames before you!
•  Missile Barrage: All Arcane Mages should be happy about this! If you have this rune then Arcane Blast will give you a chance to cast next Arcane Missiles faster without spending mana on it. Shoot out rapid energy projectiles – add more electricity to your abilities.

 

↖ Boot Runes

Phase 2:

•  Brain Freeze: A chance to cast Fireball, Frostbolt, or Frostfire Bolt instantly and at zero cost of mana comes with frost imbued abilities leading to countless spells within seconds! Let them never know how fast you can go in casting spells; let their ICY toes propel them closer to death!
•  Spell Power: Make your critical hits deal double damage. A plus of 50% to the devastating effect is a very simple yet strong buff that would really make the enemies confused.
•  Chronostatic Preservation: Fiddle with time magic and you will love this rune. Healing in abundance lies in wait as three kinds of magic—arcane, fire and ice are combined to produce a stored energy that can be released to heal your friends.

 

↖ Chest Runes

Phase 1:

•  Enlightenment: Continuous casting is sustained by a boost in damage over 70% mana for arcane mages along with improved regeneration during times when it is lower than this threshold.
•  Burnout: In terms of having more percentage chance of critting at the expense of consuming slightly more mana per spell, once mages obtain items from higher tiers, this rune becomes viable.
•  Fingers of Frost: This gives me some nostalgia about burning crusade; makes your chill effects behave like that target was frozen solid setting up your following spells. Rise all frost mages!
•  Regeneration: What if calm mist had gone arcane? Not only does this channeled spell heal overtime but also puts a "temporal beacon" on its target. The catch? Your Arcane damage turns into healing for any allies possessing beacons. It's like being a medic who exists through time on the battlefield.

 

↖ Leg Runes

Phase 1:

•  Living Flame: A new burn reminiscent of Outland's dreaded flame sweeping everything before it. Fire/Arcane Mages, be prepared to leave an impression – on souls and skins.
•  Arcane Surge: With large mana regen following spell cast coupled with major mana reserves nuke (scaled), Arcane Mage gameplay might change forever thanks to this one item.
•  Icy Veins: One ultimate cold pill! For 20 full seconds, speed up casting and become immune to pushback from spells. No doubt, this rune is equally cool for both PvPers and PVErs.
•  Mass Regeneration: It is the sibling of regeneration AoE healing that affects party members in its radius. When mass fights happen, bunch up and just get your health back up.

Mages are set to shine in the Season of Discovery. The new healing runes promise to revolutionize AoE encounters, though managing threat could be tricky.
